This is an instant chat program that lets you exchange instant messages with other people on the Internet who are also using AOL Messenger, or with anyone using American Online.
In addition to chat functions, it offers file transfer, an easy-access tray icon, buddy lists and upgraded security.

AOL Instant Messenger installs a third-party plug-in Wild Tangent. This plug-in is used for the AIM Games located on the Welcome screen.
